“Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something and that this thing must be attained.”

SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS AND IMPACT ON SOCIETY
At WARIORS, we believe that skill is the key to self-reliance. Our Skill Development Program is designed to empower rural women and youth with practical skills that can generate income and build confidence. Many women in our villages have talent but lack opportunity and training. We bridge this gap by providing free, hands-on training in a supportive environment. What We Teach:Tailoring & Handicrafts: Cutting, stitching, and making local handmade productsBeauty & Wellness: Basic beautician trainingFood Processing: Pickle making, spice processing and packagingDigital Literacy: Basic computer, smartphone use and online awarenessFinancial Literacy: How to save, manage money and connect with Self-Help Groups (SHGs)Impact on Society:Women Become Self-Reliant: After training, women start earning from home and no longer depend on others for small expenses.Stronger Families: When a woman earns, her children’s education, health and nutrition improve.Reduced Migration: Youth get work opportunities in their own village, so they don’t have to migrate to cities.Community Growth: Self-Help Groups become active, village economy becomes stronger and other women also get inspired. Our goal is not just to give training, but to create future entrepreneurs. One skilled woman can change her whole family, and many skilled women can change the whole society.
WARIORS: From Relief to Self-Reliance – Our Journey 2021 to 2026
WARIORS – Women Awareness and Rural Invigorate Organization cum Radiant Society was born in a time of crisis. In 2021, when the COVID-19 pandemic had brought Assam to a standstill, we started with a simple promise: to stand with people when no one else could. What began as emergency relief in a few villages has today become a sustainable movement for dignity, health, and women-led self-reliance across Assam.2021-2022: The Foundation Years – Humanity FirstThe first two years were about survival and support. During the peak of the pandemic, fear was bigger than the virus itself. Daily wage earners, migrant labourers who had returned home, and single mothers had no food and no income.WARIORS launched a massive response across 25 districts of Assam. Our volunteers conducted door-to-door awareness to remove fear about COVID-19, and distributed thousands of Grocery and Hygiene Kits. Each kit was carefully designed to support a family of five for 7 to 12 days. It contained rice, dal, oil, salt, soaps, masks, and sanitizers. For many families, this was the only help they received during lockdown. We knew that relief alone was not enough. To protect the community, we collaborated with the State Health Department and the Government of Assam to organize and support COVID-19 Vaccination Camps. Our team mobilized people, counseled families to remove vaccine hesitancy, and helped in crowd management at the camps. We were proud to be part of the state’s fight against the pandemic. At the same time, we realized that health inequality was killing more people than the virus. In collaboration with ERC and local hospitals, we organized Free Health and Eye Check-up Camps. In 2021 alone, nearly 2,000 people from remote villages received free check-ups, medicines, and referrals. We went beyond camps to support critical individual cases – a 4-year-old child suffering from a neck tumor, a man suffering from hand cancer, and a little boy with a severe neck wound. More than 30 poor patients successfully underwent free eye operations at medical colleges through our referral support. When Assam faced its annual trauma of floods, WARIORS was again on the frontline. During the devastating floods in Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, and Tinsukia, our volunteers used boats and walked through water-logged areas to distribute emergency relief – rice, food kits, drinking water, and tarpaulins – to families who had lost everything.2023: Project “Um” and The Birth of Cloth BanksAssam’s winter is harsh for those who live in makeshift houses. To restore dignity to the poor, we launched Project “Um” which means Warmth. What started as a one-time cloth distribution drive became one of our most loved permanent programs. We appealed to people to donate usable clothes, which we cleaned, repaired, and stored. To make distribution dignified and regular, we innovated and created the WARIORS Cloth Bank model. Unlike one-time distribution, a Cloth Bank is a small permanent centre in a village where anyone in need can come and take clothes as per their need, with dignity. In 2023, we established 83 Cloth Banks in different districts of Assam. Thousands of people, especially women and children, have benefited. This project is still running and is fully managed by our local women volunteers.2023-2024: Our Flagship – Women Empowerment and Skill DevelopmentThe biggest turning point for WARIORS was the launch of our flagship Women Empowerment and Skill Development Program. We believe that if you empower a woman, you empower an entire family and a village. The program was designed in four layers:Vocational Training: Hands-on training on tailoring, embroidery, weaving, cake baking, and local food processing. We trained 150 women in the first batch.Entrepreneurship Skills: Training on business planning, pricing, marketing, and basic financial management for 100 women.Mentorship Program: Pairing 50 aspiring women with successful local women entrepreneurs for personal guidance.Market Linkage: To give real market experience, we organized Trade Fairs in Biswanath and Golaghat districts, where trained women set up their own stalls, sold their handmade products, and earned their first independent income. The Impact was transformational: 45% of the trained women started their own small businesses, there was a 30% average increase in family income among participants, and 90% of the women reported a massive boost in self-confidence and self-esteem.To take this further, we launched “Sumitra Das Swabalamban Yojana” in 2024. Under this scheme, we provided direct seed funding of Rs. 10,000 each to 5 highly enterprising women to start their own ventures. Today, these five women are running successful small hotel businesses, embroidery units, and cloth shops. They are not just earning, but also employing other women. In June 2024, we also focused on the next generation. We organized Health and Hygiene Awareness Camps in different schools and colleges. With the participation of medical staff and doctors, we educated over 3,000 students on protection from seasonal diseases, menstrual hygiene, and healthy lifestyle habits.2025: Scaling Up and Going DigitalBy 2025, our model was proven. Donors and the community started trusting us more. We used this year to scale and professionalize our programs. The Cloth Bank network grew from 83 to 120 Cloth Banks across Assam, with a centralized collection and distribution system in Guwahati, Jorhat, and Silchar. We introduced a token system to track need and ensure transparency. Our Women Empowerment Program entered its second phase. We trained an additional 250 women and added two new high-demand skills – beautician training and digital literacy & smartphone-based marketing. This helped our women sell their products on WhatsApp and Facebook. Under Sumitra Das Swabalamban Yojana, we supported 15 more women in 2025.We also started our first Youth Volunteer Leadership Program, training 40 college students as community health and climate change volunteers.2026: Towards a Self-Reliant Assam – Our Vision Forward2026 is a milestone year for us. From a small relief group, WARIORS is now recognized as a grassroots organization working on a sustainable development model. This year, our focus is on three goals:Financial Inclusion: Linking all our 400+ trained women entrepreneurs to government schemes like Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission and bank linkages for bigger loans.WARIORS Production House: We have dream to setting up a common production and marketing centre in Biswanath where women from different districts can produce together, maintain quality, and sell under one brand – “Made by WARIORS.”Health for All: Expanding our school health program to 50 schools with a focus on adolescent girls’ health and anaemia prevention. From distributing one grocery kit in 2021 to running 120 Cloth Banks and making 400+ women self-reliant in 2026, our journey has been possible only because of people like you.WARIORS does not just distribute aid. We build confidence, we build skills, and we build self-reliance. When one woman becomes self-reliant, she changes her entire family, and her family changes the village.Thank you for being a part of the WARIORS family. Your support is our strength.
